Snapshots From The Studio:

Update: February 14th, 1998:

3 pictures from these sessions: Download time approx. 2 min at 28.8

After a break to attend the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) convention in Los Angeles, we return to the studio only to find that our (4 year old) 1 gigabyte computer drive has crashed, causing the sessions grind to a screeching halt. We spend yet another week ordering and replacing the drive 3 times only to settle on a brand new Seagate 9.5 gigabyte replacement drive. (Computer talk for 'lots of storage')

Below are 3 pictures of John playing his 'National' resophonic guitar which will be featured at least twice on the CD. We've recorded "Don't Waste My Time" and "The Back Page" using it as the basic rhythm track. This instrument has a very unique sound, and John plays it in a very 'bluesy' style adding a very distinctive tonal quality to the project. Brief background information on the 'National' next to each picture.

John playing the all metal 'National' guitar:

After some early controversies between George Beauchamp and John Dopyera, the "National String Instrument Company" was formed in 1927 by George Beauchamp, and the 'National Tricone Guitar' was patented in 1928 by John Dopyera

The production of metal bodied National resonator guitars ceased in 1941

A new company founded by McGregor Gaines and Don Young now produces these instruments. "National Reso-Phonic Guitars" is located in San Luis Obispo California.
